Sawkill Bridge Reconstruction Timeline

Sequence of Operations

Stage 1 – May 29 through June 28, 2024

  1. Maintain 1 lane of traffic on SR209 and 2nd Street using temporary traffic signals, shift traffic on SR209 to east side of structure. Close portions of Milford Beach Road, as indicated.
  2. Place temporary barrier, impact attenuators, advanced signing and temporary traffic signals.  Construct temporary roadway and bridge. 
  3. Employ traffic control plan, stage 1. Use pub 213, PATA107 short term patterns for stage 1 traffic pattern installations and removals. Maintain stage 1 long term stationary operation pattern during construction.

Stage 2 – June 28 through December 17, 2024

  1. Maintain two lanes of traffic on temporary SR209 roadway.
  2. Cover temporary signal heads and associated signal signing.  Construct rehabilitation of the SR209 arch bridge.  Construct pavement on the bridge approaches.
  3. Employ traffic control plan, stage 2, use pub 213, PATA107 short term patterns for stage 2 traffic pattern installations and removals. Maintain stage 2 long term stationary operation pattern during construction.

Stage 3 – December 17 through January 15, 2025

  1. Maintain 1 lane of traffic on SR209 and 2nd street using temporary traffic signals. Shift traffic on SR209 to east side of structure. Close portions of Milford Beach Road, as indicated.
  2. Place temporary barrier, impact attenuators, advanced signing and temporary traffic signals.  Remove temporary roadway and bridge.  Install proposed guide rail and apply pavement markings.
  3. Employ traffic control plan, stage 3. Use pub 213, PATA107 short term patterns for stage 3 traffic pattern installations and removals. Maintain stage 3 long term stationary operation pattern during construction.
